Bryan Gregory was an American musician best known as the founding guitarist of the influential punk rock band The Cramps. He was born on February 20, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, and died on January 10, 2001, in Anaheim, California.
Gregory formed The Cramps in 1976 with vocalist Lux Interior (Erick Lee Purkhiser) and the band quickly gained a reputation for their wild live performances and unique blend of rockabilly, punk, and 1950s trash culture.
Gregory's guitar playing style was characterized by its aggressive, raw sound and experimentation with feedback and distortion. He played on the band's early albums, including "Songs The Lord Taught Us" and "Psychedelic Jungle."
After leaving The Cramps in 1980, Gregory struggled with drug addiction and personal problems before eventually getting clean and returning to music in the 1990s with his own band, The Dials.
Despite his troubled personal life, Bryan Gregory is remembered as an innovative and talented guitarist who helped shape the sound of punk and garage rock music.
